This was one of the first "craft" projects I did without my mom and when I was living on my own...
I made him 8 years ago, and he remains one of my favorite Halloween decorations. I just think he is so cute AND....you fill up his head with candy that you can eat...I mean pass out to trick-or-treaters...he stands pretty tall...Lil D is almost 40 inches, so that gives you an idea as to how big he is.
He is made out of terra cotta pots. The body is 2 12 inch pots and his head is a 10 inch pot. His feet are a pot base (turned upside down). He isn't glued together, so you can take him apart to stack him to store. His cape is black felt sprayed with glitter. The paint is all acrylic paint, except for the black lines (permanent marker). His ears are painted cardstock.
A few years ago, my mom made little ones that can sit on a table...they turned out super cute too. The great thing about terra cotta pots, is that they come in so many sizes that you can really make him however big or small you want. I'm sorry...but don't you just love his little bat?!
Of course, I also had to get out my witches...
and ghosts...
Up next...the neighborhood Halloween party that I so "luckily" get to plan (how primary president and party planner got tied together I will never know)...lots of work to get down...any game ideas, please share! (We are having it at the church so we have the whole gym to use)

He is cute! You did a great job with painting! Mine would definitely look "handmade". lol Love the witches and ghosts too! So cute!
Good luck with the party planning! Have fun! No suggestions...I head to Martha for party inspiration. We might have a party too but I haven't thought that far ahead. It's sneaking up though, isn't it?
Thanks for linking your cute ideas to the Fall Festival!

so cute - and clever! i love the witches too!
That's so cute! I thought you bought it when I just looked at the pictures. Really good work!
I thought Lil D was 38 inches...wasn't that how big he had to be to go on the rides?
That'd be some serious cuteness, right there. Lovin' it!

(ps...I'm having a giveaway, feel free to stop by!)
Thanks Jo-dan...I corrected my mistake:) Lil D is almost 40 inches...if he were almost 30 he would be a very tiny 2 1/2 year old:) Oops!
that is the friendliest dracula I've ever seen. Love the ghosts too!
He is absolutely too cute and so much fun! I love that you thought to make it out of terra cotta pots (would have NEVER occurred to me!).

Aren't you creative? He is cute, my kids would love him!
No problem T...I was just thinking that my little guy is almost 30 inches, so yours would have to be MUCH bigger...maybe that is a little bit of an exaggeration on my part, but you never know...I was 24 inches when I was born, so you never know...
I really enjoyed looking around your blog! What great ideas!!
