For the boys...

I found this vinyl saying at a store a few months ago and knew I needed to find a place in my house for it. I love my 2 boys...I am hopeful that they will always love each other and want to spend time with one another.

I finally decided to put the saying, with a picture of the 2 of them, just outside their bedrooms...I hope that it becomes a little reminder for them each day.

It's amazing how much it "warms" up our little hallway by the bedrooms!

LOVE it!

A vinyl cutting machine...literally!

Last Thursday and Friday I spent most of my time cutting vinyl...
A LOT of vinyl.
My mom, sisters and I are doing a craft and gift boutique the weekend before Thanksgiving...one of my sister's and my mom had ALL these great ideas for different items they could make to sell...BUT...I have the cricut so I can cut the vinyl...BUT...I live in Utah and they are in Seattle...SO...I get the measurements and cut away...and away...and away! :)

This is not a complaint...I just couldn't believe how much vinyl could be cut:)

this was my kitchen for a few days....
(oh yes, there was plenty of soda involved)

and yes, you see two cricuts. The smaller one is mine. I had to borrow a friends because I needed to cut out some stuff bigger then 6"...then I ended up using hers for everything...I think I'm in love. I could put in my word or shape or whatever, then tell it to cut 30 and walk away....Awe.some!

So...all their stuff is done...now I have got to get going on my stuff to sell...jewelry here we come!

I'll post pictures of all their awesome stuff in a month when I get to Seattle...I'm pretty sure you may want to copy some of it.

Glass block monograms.

I have a friend named Teri (yep, same name...same spelling) and she is great at party throwing. I LOVE helping her. A few weeks ago her oldest son came home from a LDS mission and she had an open house after he spoke in our ward. Man, I wish I had taken some pictures....it was so great. Her next son is leaving after the first of the year...I'll take some pictures of that open house.

This past Thursday she threw a bridal shower for one of her dear friend's daughters. Our neighborhood is pretty fantastic when it comes to showers...even if you are new to the neighborhood, if you are getting hitched or knocked up, someone is going to throw you a party. Teri actually did my baby shower a few years back...it was so great.

Ok...seriously...on to the most recent shower.
Teri went with the bride's color scheme of black and turquoise. She wanted to keep things as simple as possible and mostly black and white with just a little of the turquoise.

This is the "gift table"
(focus on the glass block because I am IN LOVE with them).

Teri has these glass blocks and we thought they would look great with the couple's monogram on them. So I taught her how to do vinyl on her cricut and this is what we came up with:

Teri added a black ribbon around the outside and then the toulle.

For the food, she had veggie trays and dip, fruit and dip, a variety of breads, some pumpkin bars and cream puffs. YUM!

It was a really great party!

homemade decorative plates

I looked and looked for 2 plates to hang above my pantry door, but didn't find any that I really loved...or wanted to spend money on. I was at the dollar store and saw some plates (for a dollar of course:) and thought...hey, want not just make some plates.

I used brown, green and yellow vinyl and
the storybook cartridge (which is awesome).

I didn't really have a plan at first. I picked a few shapes that I really liked and cut them out in a few different sizes and placed them till I liked how it looked.
I didn't use my transfer paper on the first shape and ended up pulling it off...with all the little cuts it was just sticking all over my hands...the transfer paper made it MUCH easier to put it just where I wanted.

I decided to do a little monogram on one of them too.

And there you go. So fast. So easy.

SO cheap!

I'm linkin' to these parties.

Why did it take me SO long?

The ONLY thing I hate about being a stay at home mom...

Solicitors

Drive me crazy...
NO...I don't want to buy anything
NO...I don't want to listen to you
NO...I'm not signing up for anything...
NO.

I get pretty good at ignoring the door...Lil D on the other hand isn't so good at it.

So after the one millionth sales person rang my bell (twice) today...
I put up this:

Hello?!...how long have I been cutting vinyl on the cricut and I'm just doing this...
Oh well...at least it's there now...here's hoping people read it:)

(I would have taken a picture of the whole front door...BUT...it's the last on the list in the house update and it is B-A-D...so I am too embarrassed to show...someday I'll do a before and after...when there is a good after to show:)
