Mr. T and I have been married for almost 7 years...we have spent the last 8 Christmases together, but have always traveled back and forth between my family and his family's homes. We told our families that after we had kids, we would be staying home to begin our own traditions, and to allow our children to wake in their own beds Christmas morning. Lil D was born in 2007, and his first Christmas was not spent at home. My step-brother was getting married a few days after Christmas, so we got to go to Seattle for Christmas (I'll be honest, I was totally okay with that). So last year was our first Christmas at our own home...however, Mr. T's parents came in to town to spend the day with us, along with Mr. T's brother. It was so fun to have family around Christmas morning...but to be in our own home.
This year...for the first time...we were really on our own. I was worried that I would miss all the chaos of my large family, and the fun of having lots of people around...I did miss them, don't get me wrong...but I LOVED having a fun quiet Christmas morning with this smiley kid...
and enjoying his happiness as he opened all of these!
Couldn't have been a better day, then a Christmas morning spent with my 2 favorite boys...
Luckily, my youngest brother and 2 of my step-siblings, plus a spouse and 7 week old do live very near to me...and they came to spend the rest of the day with us...
see...not completely lonely:)
AND...with company coming over...it gave me the opportunity to do one of my favorite things...
bake...and....cook!
I made my very first pie this past Thanksgiving...they turned out better then I could have hoped for, so I decided to make a pie for Christmas...I'm not going to lie...I was so proud of this one I immediately got on the phone with my mom to inform her that her grandmother's crust recipe is still perfect...
We had lots of snacks earlier in the day (should have taken a picture of that)...
and then a simple dinner...
A salad for me...jello and cool whip for Mr. T...cheesy potatoes for Lil D and Ham for Kels (she LOVES ham)...oh and pie for everyone (although I should say my step-sister-in law Alicia 'cause that girl LOVES her desserts).
It was such a wonderful Christmas...
I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas as well!
