Mr. T, Lil D and I traveled the 4 hours south to St. George, UT to spend the weekend with the in-laws and to go see a whole ton of houses for the Parade of Homes...
I was a little disappointed this year...A LOT of little houses that were really for the older people here in St. George...I guess it's good if you are building to your community, but gives little inspiration for us younger folk. I did fall in love with 2 homes (out of the 18 we saw). One was built in a farm house style and had not only a great lay-out, but some super design ideas. The other home was a typical family home with a play area under the stairs and a bathroom that connected the garage with the backyard...how fantastic would that be, to have a bathroom that you can only access from the backyard and garage...a dream for any mom that doesn't want a dirty husband or child tracking through the house to get to the bathroom.
We have had a lot of fun traipsing through homes in the sunshine and 60 degree weather (sorry all you snowed in folks)...here are a few things that caught my attention.
(I apologize for the pics...they were all taken with Mr. T's iphone...managing a 2 year-old, shoes in my hands and a phone just didn't seem smart:)
This phrase was in vinyl in a bathroom...I thought it was so great...
Giant tiles were all the rage down here...I think they were 24 X 24 inches...huge.
and all but 1 home had these tall and simple baseboards.
For those of you who have the skills of painting furniture more then just a solid color.
another use for old shutters.
a jewelry holder made from two frames hinged together...
I know you all see these (and make these) but I made Mr. T take a picture because I want one for above our dining table and seeing them here sold him on the idea...
another fun take on the cork board and chalk board...
add a mirror or clock...
I think you could cut these out with some extra wood?
My favorite sign...
and Lil D's favorite find...
I found a few more ideas for my guest room makeover that I am excited about...but I will save those for another post.
Hope you all had a fantastic Valentine's day...I received my "required" box of See's truffles, so I am a happy girl!

How fun to go to a home show and enjoy the nice weather. It was 70 in Phoenix...I think our spring has started and I can't wait!
Lucky!! I love the parade of homes, one of these years I will go again.
I have never been to the parade of homes. I love those hanging lights though. They make me swoon a little.
Some fun ideas here! I like those shutters - very simple, but really effective.
Okay, we haven't seen the farmhouse style one yet. What # is it, do you remember? We are planning to go out again this week. Hope you had a great time! We have enjoyed seeing the homes so far, but you're right, I haven't fallen in love with any of them (except of course the ones over a million dollars that a girl can only dream about).

So much inspiration here! Love it!
