guest room furniture makeover

Do you remember this dresser sitting in this terrible closet?
(see what the new craft closet looks like here)

This is the bed that goes along with it...

My husband bought this furniture A LONG time ago...The queen bed frame, a 3 drawer dresser and a 5 drawer dresser (that I previously painted for Lil D's big boy room). I knew that this bed would not work in my grand plan for the new guest room...so I thought...I like to paint...and paint I did!

Behr black (in a satin finish)...

I LOVE IT!!!!!
(the pics aren't great...sorry...they just aren't)

I'm seriously in LOVE with my black furniture...I don't think you understand how much I despised it before...glad the pine is GONE!:)

As they used to say (in the good ol' days of Trading Spaces)...

It's now time to "load the room"

I have purchased the bedding, the fabric for curtains, the wall art projects are under way, the lamp has been painted and I have the fabric to change up the shade...

Oh, I just can't wait to get it all done!

The girls each have a twin bed that looks exactly like those, gotta love the DI :). I have been trying to figure out what to do with them so now I know how great they will look painted!!

Black paint has been my answer to some of most unsightly furniture too! Black makes the perfect statement and can fit so many different styles. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your "new" furniture!

I LOVE it!!! Your curtains will look great with the furniture. Can't wait to see the finished product. Then why don't you bring your ideas and your energy and come over and do my boys room...

The bed frame looks beautiful painted black! Looking forward to seeing the "reveal" (as HGTV puts it, lol)!

It looks wonderful! I have very similar looking furniture (sadly in our master bedroom!!) and I think I'm going to have to tranquilize my husband one day and just hit it with the paint brush!

I am no fan of pine. I much prefer the black. It looks so good.

WOW, that really looks amazing. Completely different. I can't wait to see the whole room. I'm going to be looking for a guest room set now.

The black is gorgeous and is so much more dramatic than the pine. Can't wait to see it all come together! Great Job!

WOW!!! What a difference! It doesn't even look like the same furniture. Great job! Did you sand and prime before you painted? We have pine furniture that I would like to repaint. I'm just too scared to start!

Wow...I just came across your blog from Remodelaholic and saw your new guest room. I'm currently in the process of repainting my bedroom furniture very similar to yours. I also chose Behr black in Satin finish and LOVE LOVE LOVE the results. I now just have to finish my dresser, repaint the room and put everything together. I also went with a new black and white comforter set. I can't wait to get it all together! Awesome redo!!
